About the job
As part of a recruitment mandate for one of our prestigious clients, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager specialised in the deployment of large-scale space programmes.
Your Mission
Under your leadership, you will orchestrate the full lifecycle of complex space missions (ranging from traditional engineering to NewSpace initiatives), from the initial design phase to final transfer. Your main objective will be to ensure operational excellence by meeting defined technical milestones, schedules, and budget envelopes.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-functional Management: Lead and unite multidisciplinary units including engineering experts, researchers, as well as external partners and suppliers to ensure optimal synergy.
Technical Supervision: Coordinate the various development streams (mechanical, electronic, optical and software) while scrupulously ensuring compliance with Product Assurance (PA) and Quality Assurance (QA) protocols.
Validation and Testing: Develop and oversee functional and environmental test programmes, ensuring rigorous traceability of results against contractual requirements.
Configuration Management: Administer technical documentation and change control to guarantee data integrity throughout the project.
Stakeholder Interface: Act as the primary contact with industrial partners, leading project reviews and securing necessary approvals.
Risk Management: Anticipate, assess and mitigate critical risks through the implementation of proactive contingency plans.
- Reporting and Governance: Structure internal communication (management briefings, team meetings) and produce detailed progress analyses for senior management and clients.
Proven Expertise: Ideally, you have 10 to 20 years of experience, although a 5 to 10 year career with rapid progression and a strong personality is also considered.
Stability and Longevity: We seek someone wishing to commit for the very long term, with a genuine desire to grow within an agile organisation.
Local Presence: You are ideally already established or wish to invest yourself sustainably.
Electronic Background: Solid knowledge of electronics is essential to oversee the project’s technical streams.
Engineering Versatility: An excellent understanding of mechanics is highly desirable to communicate effectively with development teams.
Space Culture: Previous experience or a strong affinity with the space domain (institutional or NewSpace) is a major asset.
Operational Right Hand: You act as a smooth interface between Management, project managers and technical teams.
Loyalty and Vision: You fully support Management’s strategic decisions and possess the charisma necessary to embody and convey them with clarity.
Agility and Problem Solving: You demonstrate great ingenuity and the ability to find solutions autonomously within a small-sized structure (10-12 employees).
Unifying Leadership: You know how to motivate multidisciplinary talents to maintain alignment on common objectives.
