The Primary Care Medicine Department (PCMD) has the societal mission to provide access to quality healthcare for all through community medicine, to ensure the management of minor medical and surgical emergencies, to promote prevention among citizens, to provide medical knowledge for judicial investigations, and to promote the health of travellers.

The Tropical and Humanitarian Medicine Service manages patients who have travelled and present with imported, tropical or parasitic diseases and provides prevention advice. It carries out specialised vaccinations for travellers, expatriates, students, and the local population. Furthermore, this service actively participates in vaccination campaigns in case of epidemics or other identified needs.

As a nurse at the Tropical and Humanitarian Medicine Service (THMS), your mission is to independently conduct pre-travel nursing consultations with a very diverse patient group (expatriates, families, humanitarian workers, immunosuppressed individuals).

You independently conduct and manage first-line nursing consultations, respecting the missions, protocols, and delegations entrusted to you.

You also provide travel advice by offering personalised recommendations on the prevention of travel-related risks (vaccinations, prophylaxis, hygiene measures, prevention of infectious diseases and other health risks). You actively participate in vaccination campaigns at various sites.

You work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team as well as with internal and external care networks, including non-governmental organisations, international organisations, and partners present at the Global Health Campus.

Equipped with excellent adaptability and organisational skills, you are able to handle large and variable patient flows while maintaining quality care. You manage unforeseen events and stressful situations calmly.

You possess excellent interpersonal skills, a strong sense of hospitality, and compassionate communication, enabling you to meet the expectations of a demanding and multicultural patient base.

As part of your role, you will be required to work across two sites.

You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent nursing diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.

You have over 4 years of diverse professional experience in public health and/or community health and knowledge in vaccinology. You have completed training in nursing clinical assessment.

Training in tropical and travel medicine is a real asset.

You have a very good level of English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in another language is an advantage.

You are able to adapt to various contexts, unforeseen events, and fluctuations in workload.

You possess excellent interpersonal skills, a welcoming attitude, and compassionate communication.
