Sr Legal Counsel - Banking & Trade Finance

Our client is a bank based in Geneva, operating in an international and multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities:

• Advise the various departments of the Bank on all legal issues, providing pragmatic solutions compliant with the Swiss regulatory framework.
• Draft, review and negotiate legal and contractual documentation, notably in the field of Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management and Financial Institutions.
• Manage requests, investigations and procedures from Swiss and foreign authorities, as well as civil, criminal, administrative and litigation cases.
• Ensure follow-up of external legal counsel and coordinate their intervention with the relevant departments.
• Conduct legal research and analysis, monitor developments in Swiss legislation and regulation, and support their implementation within the Bank.
• Support the Head of Legal & Compliance on various legal and regulatory matters, notably in Compliance, internal training and acting as their backup.

Candidate Profile

Your profile:

• < 15 to 20 years of professional experience in a senior legal role, ideally acquired within the Swiss banking sector.
• Significant and essential experience in Commodity / Trade Finance
• Excellent knowledge of Swiss banking law and environment, as well as regulatory and Compliance issues.
• Excellent analytical, drafting and negotiation skills, with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach.
• Strong interpersonal skills, autonomy, sense of responsibility and ability to manage several complex files simultaneously.
• Excellent command of French and English, both spoken and written, and residence in Switzerland.
