Head of Civil Engineering (m/f/d)
Salary - CHF115,000 - 125,000Role:
On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced professional for the management and project control of municipal civil engineering and infrastructure tasks. You will be responsible for projects in the areas of road construction, urban drainage, watercourses, utilities and traffic from planning through project design to realisation and renovation. As a central specialist office, you coordinate cantonal authorities, engineering offices, companies and internal departments and conduct construction inspections in both building and civil engineering. Additionally, you prepare technical and financial decision-making bases for political committees and take on an important deputy role within the construction administration.
Responsibilities:
Management and control of civil engineering, road construction and municipal infrastructure projects from planning to realisation
Project responsibility in the areas of urban drainage, utility lines, watercourses and traffic infrastructure
Planning and supervision of renovation, maintenance and renewal measures on municipal infrastructure facilities
Coordination of engineering offices, construction companies, utility line operators and other external service providers
Technical coordination and cooperation with cantonal authorities and specialist offices
Planning, organisation and execution of construction inspections in building, civil engineering and utility lines
Monitoring of costs, deadlines, quality and project progress in ongoing infrastructure projects
Support of tenders, awards and execution work in municipal civil engineering
Preparation of project proposals, credit applications and decision-making bases for the municipal council and authorities
Coordination and support of the implementation of official decisions and infrastructure measures
Collaboration with municipal depot, construction administration and other municipal specialist departments
Deputising for the head of construction administration and support with technical and organisational tasks in the department
Qualifications:
Basic training as draftsperson EFZ specialising in civil engineering, road builder EFZ or bricklayer EFZ with further education at HF/FH level, for example as a certified technician HF or civil engineer FH
At least 5 years of professional experience in civil engineering, road construction or municipal infrastructure construction
Sound knowledge in project management, construction inspection and project execution as well as in the areas of road construction, urban drainage and utility lines
Knowledge of Swiss civil engineering processes, tenders and official procedures, ideally experience in the municipal or cantonal environment
Good German language skills, both spoken and written
