Senior Physician in Old Age Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• You take on the specialist medical responsibility for the inpatient treatment of residents with mental and psychosomatic illnesses in old age such as dementia, depression, delirium and anxiety disorders.
• You conduct demanding psychiatric diagnostics, create individual treatment plans and are responsible for medication and psychotherapeutic treatment.
• You support and train assistant doctors in the specific diagnostics and therapy of old age psychiatry.
• You actively contribute to the further development of old age psychiatric care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• You work closely with geriatricians within a multiprofessional team.

Profile

• You hold the specialist title in psychiatry and psychotherapy
• You possess pronounced empathy and confidence in dealing with complex psychiatric symptoms in old age
• You have very good oral and written communication skills

The Health Centres for the Elderly of the City of Zurich are one of the largest geriatric institutions in Switzerland. As a leading service provider in the field of elderly care, we combine professional competence with humanity and offer a comprehensive range of services from a single source.

The Geriatric Service, with its approximately 40 doctors, forms the medical service of the Health Centres for the Elderly of the City of Zurich. Together we ensure holistic care and treatment of residents in the various geriatric medical disciplines. Our range extends from gerontopsychiatry through our specialised Memory Clinic to consultation and liaison services.
