Application dossier

Applications must be submitted in writing with a cover letter, a brief CV, and a recently issued (not older than one year) criminal record and debt collection register extract.

The Judicial Council advertises the judicial offices for application to the Grand Council ( Art. 12 JG ). The president is elected by the Grand Council upon the recommendation of the Judicial Council.

Desired profile

• Lawyer's licence, licentiate or master of law. Sufficient practical knowledge for the exercise of the office

• The advertisement is aimed at persons with interest and experience in criminal and civil law

• Employment level 50% (with prospect of increase to 100%): The position is advertised at a 50% employment level. Subject to the approval of the 2027 budget, there is the possibility to increase the employment level to 100%. Applicants interested in this possibility are asked to indicate this in their application

• Proficiency in German with good knowledge of French
• Voting rights in cantonal matters. Foreign nationals must hold a residence permit and have lived in the canton for at least five years. There must be no loss certificates against the persons. They must not have been criminally convicted of acts incompatible with the judicial office
