Without the SBB, the country comes to a standstill. And without you, the SBB cannot function. You make a valuable contribution to the supply of Switzerland, which you can be proud of. You will undergo training as a shunting service employee and obtain the VTE Ai40 qualification certificate from the Federal Office of Transport. This is what you can achieve.

• You contribute to ensuring that our customers are served reliably and punctually by moving, forming, and breaking up freight trains.
• In the SBB's 24-hour operation, you work from Monday to Friday and partly on Saturdays. Irregular working hours are the norm with us. In return, you enjoy days off during the week and can thus enjoy your leisure activities flexibly and away from the hustle and bustle.
• You are responsible for coupling and uncoupling wagons and locomotives and carry out shunting brake tests.
• When shunting, you observe the applicable train service regulations, safety regulations, and local instructions. Due to your safety awareness, it is natural for you to work according to regulations.
• To correctly carry out shunting operations, you are in constant communication with train dispatchers, signal box staff, shunting locomotive drivers, and train drivers.
• Based on your skills and talents, you have various development opportunities, e.g. train driver A40, operational shunting supervisor, or you can aim for a specialist or management position.

• You are attentive, focused, and physically resilient to successfully manage this demanding work in a 24-hour shift operation. In addition, you enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Since all instructions and documentation are electronic, you will quickly become familiar with digital tools.
• Your strengths are safety-conscious thinking and acting, your ability to work in a team, as well as your resilience and flexibility.
• You have completed basic education and ideally have completed an apprenticeship. In addition, you already have professional experience in a craft, logistics, or comparable field.
• You have very good knowledge of German, both spoken and written (level B2).
