Physician, Chief of the Old Age Psychiatry Service with Professorial Rank in the field of old age psychiatry at the Department of Psychiatry (DP)

Context
The Old Age Psychiatry Service (SUPAA) brings together services related to the diagnosis and care of patients aged 65 and over in the three regions (central, north and west) of the canton, covering all psychiatric pathologies. It includes outpatient, inpatient and liaison services and operates at primary (hospital, polyclinics), secondary and tertiary levels (hospital, polyclinic, liaison, EMPAA, interventional psychiatry). It actively supports research development, particularly in the fields of cognitive and affective disorders as well as interventional psychiatry. Its work is based on a variety of methodologies, mainly epidemiology, life course studies, neuroscience and therapeutic approaches.
Mission
Position responsibilities:
- Lead the service and ensure overall medical responsibility.
- Organise and supervise care and interventions in old age psychiatry.
- Coordinate pre- and post-graduate and continuing education in the field.
- Develop and guide academic activities linked to the university mission.
- Ensure multidisciplinary collaboration, service supervision and coordination with CHUV departments as well as with care network partners.
- Contribute to the training and development of skills of the next generation of psychiatrists specialised in old age psychiatry.
- Guarantee high-quality medical and scientific succession, consolidate the clinical and academic field’s reputation both internally and externally, and collaborate with hospitals of the Vaud Hospitals Federation (FHV), especially the Nant Foundation and psychiatric hospitals in French-speaking Switzerland.
NB: As part of the ongoing structural reorganisation of the DP, the Service’s scope is expected to evolve and consequently, the new leadership will be involved in this process.
Profile
Desired profile:
- Federal Medical Diploma (or recognised MEBEKO title mandatory) and MD or MD-PhD.
- ISFM specialist title in old age psychiatry or equivalent (MEBEKO recognition mandatory).
- Solid clinical experience in old age psychiatry and advanced training in one of the recognised psychotherapeutic approaches.
- Ability to establish research programmes supported by expert external funding.
- Academic knowledge and expertise at professorial level with proven practice in pre- and post-graduate teaching.
- Recognised managerial skills in leading and managing a large team, training academic medical successors, and extensive experience in project management and international collaborations.
- Good knowledge of French (mother tongue or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it quickly.
- Proven record of impeccable professional conduct: the selected candidate must provide all guarantees of integrity and compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements of the position.
