Dipl. Nurse Specialist Endoscopy

The Abdominal Centre at Inselspital is a unique, multidisciplinary facility for patients with stomach, intestinal, and liver diseases. Visceral surgeons, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, and stoma care advisors jointly provide their services in the outpatient clinic. The Endoscopy Centre performs the full spectrum of endoscopic diagnostics and interventions at the highest international level. As the largest centre in Switzerland, we carry out up to 12,000 interventions annually with an increasing trend. In addition to regular opening hours for elective procedures, an emergency service is guaranteed around the clock through on-call duty.

What to expect

• Preparation of patients for various endoscopic procedures
• Care and monitoring of patients before, during, and after procedures
• Patient sedation during examinations
• Assistance with diagnostic and therapeutic examinations such as gastroscopies and colonoscopies
• Preparation and assistance with complex examinations such as ERCP, PTCD, transgastric stent placements, ESD, and Endosleeve
• Proper handling of medical devices as well as their preparation and follow-up
• Reprocessing of endoscopic equipment according to hygiene regulations
