SBB Telecom is responsible as a private mobile provider for its own railway-critical communication infrastructure for operational railway operations. This currently includes GSM-R, IMS and other railway-specific communication services – and in the future FRMCS based on 5G. In the BAK-Core team, we continue to design and develop SBB's central communication platform. IMS plays a key role here: as a service and communication platform for voice services, SIP-based communication, interfaces to existing networks, as well as the basis for future mission-critical services in the FRMCS environment. The further development of these systems is a strategic future topic with great importance for the digitalisation and safety of railway operations. You can expect a role with technical depth, long-term prospects and plenty of scope for design in a technologically demanding environment. You will not work on isolated individual systems, but on a comprehensive private mobile and communication infrastructure that supports the safe railway operation of Switzerland. What you will achieve.

• You collect, structure and document requirements for IMS-based communication services in the railway-critical environment.
• Developing technical concepts, target images, system designs and integration specifications for IMS, voice services, SIP-based communication and mission-critical communication services are part of your tasks.
• In this role, you translate operational, technical and security-relevant requirements into specifications, requirement documents and tender documents.
• You assess solution designs from suppliers and ensure that they meet the functional, technical and operational requirements.
• You define and verify the integration of IMS into a complex system landscape with GSM-R, 4G/5G components, core networks, MCX and operational subsystems and professionally accompany the corresponding life-cycle projects.
• You accompany suppliers from specification through implementation to introduction and work closely with internal specialist departments, operations, engineering, architecture, procurement as well as external partners.

What you bring with you.

• With an analytical and structured way of working, you convey technical contexts understandably and link different requirements. You enjoy learning and like to familiarise yourself with new topics.
• You enjoy working in a team and confidently guide suppliers through tenders as well as through requirement and specification documents. You have already gained initial experience in telecommunications, mobile communications or communication environments or are motivated to familiarise yourself with this subject area. Ideally, you bring knowledge in areas such as requirements engineering, system engineering, technical specification, system design or integration management.
• Interest in communication platforms, voice services, interfaces and their interaction; experience with IMS architectures, SIP, VoLTE or mission-critical services is an advantage.
• You have a completed education or degree in telecommunications, computer science, electrical engineering or a comparable field.
• Very good German and English skills (at least B2) or the willingness to build these up accordingly are required.
