Gardener
ROLE
Reporting to the Landscape Team Leader, the gardener is responsible for the daily maintenance of the green and landscaped areas of the Prilly site (flower beds, shrubs, lawns, grass, urban furniture). They are mostly on site and directly contribute to the aesthetic quality and safety of the site’s exterior.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
- Routine maintenance: mowing, trimming hedges and shrubs, weeding, watering, leaf and green waste collection.
- Specialised pruning: independently performing formative pruning, pruning and rejuvenation pruning on various shrubs, perennials and hedges, respecting seasonal cycles.
- Lawn and soil management: diagnosing lawn problems (moss, diseases, thatch) and executing maintenance plans (scarification, fertilisation, overseeding).
- Planting: setting up and maintaining flower beds and plants according to plans defined by the Team Leader in agreement with the landscaping contractor.
- Winter service: participating in snow clearance and salting of roads and paths on site.
- Equipment maintenance: safe use of machines and tools, daily technical maintenance (mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, blowers, etc.).
- Efficient site organisation: following the schedule, tidying equipment and leaving a clean and safe site at the end of the day.
- Safety: strict adherence to safety instructions, especially when working with machines or at height.
PROFILE
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional garden and green space maintenance experience.
- Plant knowledge: good mastery of plants, their care and specific needs, as well as hedge and bed pruning in various forms.
- Autonomy and rigour: ability to organise and carry out maintenance tasks independently and rigorously.
- Driving licence.
- Enjoyment of outdoor work: hands-on profile, available for physical work outdoors all year round.
- Team spirit: good collaboration with other landscaping team members and ability to follow technical instructions. Ability to share expertise and support less experienced colleagues.
- Training in working at height / chainsaw use: a valued asset; SUVA certificates "Working at Height" (tree access, wearing a fall arrest harness) and/or "Chainsaw Handling" are a plus for pruning, high pruning or green roof maintenance work.
