With nearly 1,200 employees, the Acute Medicine Department (D-MA) includes the Anaesthesiology, Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, Intensive Care, and Emergency Services. It fulfils a fourfold mission through its services, which provide their expertise in frequent interaction with the entire Geneva University Hospitals, thanks to a transversal platform, with the aim of ensuring the best possible care for patients.

The Anaesthesiology Service is a transversal service of the HUG at the heart of the technical platform. With its 8 medical units and a research and innovation unit, its mission is to ensure the comfort and safety of patients during therapeutic or diagnostic, medical or surgical procedures, as well as during post-interventional care, while ensuring effective pain management.

As the largest centre in Switzerland in terms of the number of interventional procedures performed annually, the Anaesthesiology Service is at the forefront of advances in this field. The service also provides pre- and post-graduate and continuing education for nurses and doctors in specialised training. As a service provider, anaesthesiology also intervenes in the field of interventional pain management and in life-threatening emergency situations both in-hospital and pre-hospital alongside the Emergency Service.

You ensure the comprehensive care of patients during their stay in the peri-interventional care units of the Anaesthesia Service in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

You welcome, accompany, and provide care to patients requiring continuous monitoring, monitored in various post-interventional surveillance rooms, with intensified treatment in a peri-interventional intermediate care unit.

You promote and develop nursing care within a multidisciplinary team.

You guarantee patient safety and deliver quality services in an acute care environment.

Your work scope may include other Anaesthesiology units (Ambulatory Reception, Interventional Pain Management, etc.).

You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a nursing diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross.

You have worked in an acute care service or completed a certified training (Certificate in Intermediate Care).

You possess proven skills in nursing practice. Experience in acute care is essential.

You demonstrate availability and punctuality. You are capable of promoting quality care and working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.

You have excellent analytical, synthesis, organisational, priority management, and stress resistance skills.

You are open to change and willing to question your practices.

You have ease in human relations and possess strong listening and empathy skills.

You commit to undertaking certified training (Certificate in Intermediate Care).
