About the job
Alva Film
Alva Film Production is an independent Geneva-based production company. We develop and produce feature films, documentaries and series for cinema, for RTS and for international broadcasters, most often in co-production with European and other partners.
Behind these films, there is a small team and a demanding administrative mechanism: several projects run in parallel, each with its own budget, its own funders and its own schedule; film crews that range from a few people to several dozen in a few weeks; accounts that must be justified, franc by franc, before public funds and auditors. This is the mechanism we entrust to you.
The position
Our current accountant and administrator is leaving their position and we are looking for the person who will take over their entire scope. This is not an execution role: you will solely manage the company’s accounting, payroll and HR administration, from daily entry to closing, in direct contact with management. You will quickly become the person everyone turns to when it comes to figures, salaries or contracts.
We are looking for someone who wants this responsibility and who will be able to evolve our tools and procedures rather than endure them. In return, you will have real autonomy, direct access to decisions and an overview of the economic life of a production company — something no equivalent position in a large organisation can offer.
Your tasks
Accounting
- Complete management of the company’s accounting, from daily entry to annual closing
- Debtors, creditors, cash flow, VAT returns
- Preparation and coordination of the audit with our auditing body
Project accounting and reports to funders
- Analytical cost tracking by production, in constant dialogue with production managers
- Preparation of interim and final statements for the OFC, Cinéforom, RTS/SSR, Eurimages and regional and foreign funds
Payroll and HR administration
- Complete payroll management, including for film crews whose numbers vary greatly from month to month
- Social insurance, occupational pension plans, withholding tax, allowances, salary certificates
- Employment contracts, amendments, time sheets, application of Swiss labour law and industry practices
General administration
- Daily use and continuous improvement of our ERP Odoo
- Insurance, subscriptions, relations with banks and authorities
- Ongoing administrative follow-up of the company
Your profile
- Recognised accounting qualification — commercial employee CFC, Bachelor in business administration, or equivalent
- At least two years of accounting experience
- Mastery of Swiss payroll and social insurance; experience with variable staff numbers is a valuable asset
- Comfort with IT tools and a taste for automation; knowledge of Odoo is a plus, not a requirement
- Fluent French, both written and spoken; good level of English, German is an asset
- Rigor, organisational skills and ability to meet non-negotiable deadlines
- Autonomy and discretion, but also a taste for teamwork: you will be in contact with very different profiles, from production managers to set technicians
- An interest in cinema and audiovisual is welcome; it is not required
What we offer
- A complete, autonomous and sustainable position within a human-sized structure, with direct access to management
- A careful handover: the current holder will support you during the first two weeks
- Occupational pension plan from the first franc
- Remote work possible: 1 day per week
- 5 weeks of holiday
