Chief Physician Geriatrics

Tasks

• You take on medical responsibility for geriatric care in the Health Centres for the Elderly and are involved in the direct treatment of residents during ward rounds. A patient-centred, interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration with nurses, social workers, therapists, medical practice assistants and other specialists is a matter of course.
• You supervise, guide and provide further training for (prospective) internists/geriatricians, promote professional competence within the team and thus contribute to the quality of medical care. In your role, you are the head of the training centre.
• You further develop integrated care structures within the urban context. In doing so, you participate in the university geriatric network, but also maintain regular contact with general practitioners and other stakeholders.
• You also actively network in municipal, cantonal and nationwide committees, contribute to the development of guidelines, research and political frameworks, and thus ensure the exchange of knowledge and practice among the actors.

Profile

• You hold the title of specialist in general internal medicine with a focus on geriatrics
• You already have experience in a comparable position
• You are accustomed to working in a structured manner
• You are a team player with an interest in interdisciplinary and interprofessional exchange for the benefit of your residents
• You have experience in project management

About us

The Health Centres for the Elderly of the City of Zurich are one of the largest geriatric institutions in Switzerland. We are the leading service provider in the field of elderly and nursing care – with competence, heart and a comprehensive range from a single source.

The Geriatric Service of the Health Centres for the Elderly of the City of Zurich comprises around 40 doctors. Together we ensure holistic care and treatment of residents in the various geriatric medical disciplines. Our services include gerontopsychiatry including consultation and liaison services, a memory clinic, a certified palliative care ward, departments for geriatric and gerontopsychiatric long-term care as well as a ward for rehabilitative acute and transitional care. In addition, we offer a broad gerontopsychiatric range of services.
