CAPEX Industrial Project Manager – Revamping & Process Engineering

Within the Engineering department, you manage investment projects (CAPEX) aimed at modernising, optimising and securing existing production facilities in a fine chemicals environment.

You mainly work on revamping projects, equipment replacement, process improvements and compliance of industrial installations, with a strong presence on site.

Project budgets generally range between 100 kCHF and 5 MCHF, with several projects managed simultaneously.

Your responsibilities

• Manage several CAPEX revamping projects on existing industrial installations.
• Define requirements with Production, Maintenance, Process, HSE and Quality teams.
• Conduct technical and economic feasibility studies.
• Develop technical specifications and tender documents.
• Consult and manage suppliers as well as engineering companies.
• Participate in technical choices of equipment and engineering solutions.
• Coordinate various technical disciplines:
  • Process
  • Mechanical
  • Piping
  • HVAC
  • Utilities
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentation
  • Automation
  • Civil Engineering
• Organise and lead design reviews (Design Reviews, HAZOP...).
• Monitor detailed studies, procurement, manufacturing and on-site works.
• Supervise FAT, SAT, commissioning and start-up phases.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, costs, deadlines and quality.
• Manage budget tracking, scheduling and project reporting.

Technical environment

Projects may include notably:

• Revamping of production units
• Replacement of reactors, tanks, exchangers or pumps
• Modifications of process and utility networks
• Optimisation of manufacturing lines
• Improvement of industrial performance
• Regulatory compliance (ATEX, PED, process safety)
• Modernisation of existing installations
• Energy optimisation
• Technical shutdown works

Profile sought

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
• 8 to 15 years of experience in industrial project management.
• Significant experience in CAPEX, revamping, brownfield or improvement of existing installations projects.
• Experience gained in one of the following sectors:
  • Fine chemicals
  • Speciality chemicals
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Biotechnologies
  • Flavours & Fragrances
  • Agrochemicals
• Good understanding of industrial processes and process equipment.
• Experience in managing multidisciplinary projects.
• Knowledge of risk analyses (HAZOP, ATEX, PED/DESP) appreciated.
• Professional French and English.
