Metallurgy Modelling Scientist (m/f/d)
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified engineer or researcher in the fields of computational engineering, materials science, metallurgy, or mechanical engineering to join our team at our Sierre site in Switzerland.
The future development and production of high-quality recycled aluminium alloys require fast and adaptive processes that link manufacturing and metallurgy in real time, as well as accurate performance prediction.
Your responsibilities:
You will be part of the team responsible for further developing advanced modelling frameworks in R&D that can be applied across different global operations. This includes the following responsibilities:
- Develop an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) framework, combining physics-based models, data-driven approaches, and digital tools for industrial-scale applications.
- Translate knowledge related to aluminium alloys, metallurgy, rolling, and finishing processes into predictive microstructure and performance models enabling virtual process and product development.
- Collaborate with production sites to ensure successful adoption and realisation of business value.

Your responsabilities:
You will be part of the team to further develop advanced modelling frameworks in R&D
that can be applied across different operations globally. This includes the following
responsibilities:
- Develop an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) framework, combining physics-based models, data-driven approaches, and digital tools for industrial-scale applications.
- Translate aluminium alloy, metallurgy, rolling and finishing process knowledge into predictive microstructure and performance models that enable virtual process and product development.
- Collaborate with manufacturing sites, ensuring successful adoption and business value realisation.
How to convince us:
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Computational Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
- Strong expertise in physical metallurgy, with deep knowledge of texture evolution, recrystallisation and precipitation phenomena
- Experience with computational materials engineering approaches and modelling tools such as VPSC, DAMASK, CP-FEM
- Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis (e.g. Python, MATLAB or similar).
- Ability to bridge the gap between advanced materials science and industrial application by communicating complex technical concepts clearly across all organisational levels.
- Fluent in English; French is an advantage.
- Demonstrated innovation mindset, curiosity and passion for continuous learning, with a self-driven, highly autonomous and result-oriented working style.
