What awaits you.

As a train traffic controller, you monitor the railway network assigned to you while ensuring the regulation and control of trains from your workstation equipped with about eight screens. Under normal operations, you observe the traffic, manage operations, and ensure everything runs smoothly. In case of disruption, you take charge of operational management: you analyse the situation and implement the necessary measures to clear the disruption and restore normal operations as quickly as possible. You thus play a crucial role in mobility in Switzerland. Without you, the network comes to a standstill. The impact of your work, essential to the proper functioning of the system, is immediate: you coordinate people and technology and make quick decisions, directly contributing to the safety and reliability of rail traffic. We offer you a paid second training as a train traffic controller, lasting eight months. Once you have successfully passed your final exam, you will work at the Renens operations centre and help to route around 9000 passenger trains and 2000 freight trains punctually and safely every day. With us, working nights and Sundays entitles you to additional pay, e.g. CHF 16.- per hour for Sunday work. Night work premiums of 10 to 30% are granted, giving you more free time. What you can move.

• As a train traffic controller, you monitor the railway network assigned to you, ensure safe and environmentally friendly train regulation, and control traffic.
• Under normal operations, you observe traffic; you intervene calmly and efficiently in case of disruptions and immediately implement the necessary measures to restore normal operations.
• In case of disturbances, you implement the required measures to return the situation to normal.
• You ensure coordination and communication with your team members as well as with locomotive, construction site, and shunting personnel.
• You are responsible for customer information at stations and ensure rapid and clear communication.
• Thanks to your commitment, passenger and freight trains run punctually and safely, day and night.

What you bring.

• You demonstrate team spirit and reliability and are willing to work in shifts (24 hours).
• You think in a structured and networked way and can react quickly and thoughtfully in stressful situations. Affinity for technology is among the skills developed during training.
• During the intensive and demanding training period, you must show great personal responsibility and a strong willingness to learn, while being ready to engage in different learning environments, from face-to-face phases to digital self-learning.
• You have successfully completed an apprenticeship of at least three years or obtained a school-leaving certificate. Your motivation matters more to us than your previous field.
• You have a confident command of French (level C2) and ideally have A1 level knowledge of German. Furthermore, your colour vision is perfect (no protanomaly or deuteranomaly).
• During the application process, we will ask you for a recent criminal record extract and a current debt enforcement and bankruptcy register extract (dated less than three months). This document can be ordered when you are invited to a personal interview.
