Head of Department "Building Research and Medieval Archaeology" 80%
from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement.Your tasks
- Responsibility for archaeological investigations and evaluations of buildings and sites from the Middle Ages to modern times
- Organisational, professional and personnel management of the department, in close exchange with the Department of Prehistoric and Early Historic Archaeology
- Providing the basis for monument preservation decisions in cooperation with the departments of monument preservation
- Public relations work such as guided tours and lectures
- Member of the management of the office with cross-departmental tasks
Your profile
- University degree preferably in the field of medieval/modern archaeology or in art/architectural history or archaeology with proven knowledge in the mentioned area.
- Experience in the professional and organisational management of excavations, building investigations and evaluations
- Familiar with the tasks of a cantonal specialist office
- Experience in personnel management
- Very good written and spoken expression in German

Your working environment
The Office for Monument Preservation and Archaeology of the Canton of Zug is responsible for the preservation, care, documentation and research of the archaeological and architectural heritage in the Canton of Zug. For this purpose, we identify and record cultural assets worth preserving, support owners, construction professionals and municipalities, and carry out archaeological excavations and building investigations. Around 45 employees from different disciplines of cultural heritage preservation work in our five departments.
