Operations Electrician (m/f/d)

To strengthen the team in the maintenance department, we are looking for a committed, conscientious, and technically skilled individual as an Operations Electrician (m/f/d) for our client at the Wiler near Utzenstorf location.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for electrical maintenance, the care of MSR technology, and ensuring the operational safety of the state-of-the-art industrial plants.


 

General Information

• Start date: Immediately / by arrangement

• Type of employment: Permanent (full-time employment)

• Workplace: Wiler near Utzenstorf

• Workload: 80% - 100% (weekly working hours: 41 hours for a 100% workload)

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Electrical maintenance & troubleshooting: Performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on high, medium, and low voltage systems, motor control centres (MCC), power distribution systems, and auxiliary systems.

• Measurement technology & calibration (MSR): Calibration, inspection, and maintenance of measuring devices, sensors, control valves, transmitters, and analytical gas measurement systems (for analysing oxygen, nitrogen, and argon purity).

• Automation & process control: Conducting diagnostics, fault finding, and minor software/hardware adjustments on programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS) under the guidance of specialist engineers.

• Compliance with electrical safety regulations: Ensuring that all on-site installations comply with Swiss electrical regulations (NIV, ESTI); participation in regular internal safety audits and technical inspections.

• Project support & overhauls: Coordinating electrical modifications on site, supporting the commissioning of new systems, and contributing to major plant overhauls.

• On-call duty: Participation in local on-call duty (approx. 6-8 weeks per year) to resolve electrical emergencies to ensure operational safety and continuous supply around the clock.
  
  
   

Knowledge & Requirements (Must-Haves)

• Education: Successfully completed vocational training (EFZ) as an automation technician, electrician, electrical installer, network electrician, or an equivalent technical qualification.

• Electrician licence: Swiss operating electrician permit according to Art. 13 NIV is highly desirable; alternatively, the entitlement and willingness to acquire it immediately.

• Professional experience: Solid practical experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial environment (ideally in process industry, chemical, oil & gas, or process automation).

• Technical skills: Profound knowledge in reading circuit diagrams as well as understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and process instrumentation. Initial experience with PLC and DCS systems is a great advantage.

• Language skills: Business fluent German (at least C1) is mandatory; good English skills (C1) are a great plus for interdisciplinary collaboration.

• Personality: Independent, analytical, and resilient personality with a strong safety awareness, team spirit, and excellent communication skills.
