The SBB Infrastructure division is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of the infrastructure. The "Network Development, Facilities and Technology" sector ensures the strategic management of the facilities. Within this division, the "civil engineering" unit is the competence centre responsible for technical management across SBB in the field of civil engineering for tunnels, bridges, retaining walls, earthworks, noise barriers, drinking water and wastewater facilities. We develop techniques, methods and guidelines for new construction, repair and monitoring of civil engineering structures. What you can move.
- In this role, you take on specialised technical leadership for retaining structures, with a focus on geotechnical structures, for SBB infrastructure construction and maintenance projects. You also support the Tunnel, Geotechnical and Special Works areas.
- You review project files, from variant studies to preliminary and construction projects, for retaining structures and covered trenches to ensure the correct application of technical specifications and quality requirements. For this, you work closely with executing project managers and monitoring specialists.
- You provide expert services within SBB for the assessment of existing retaining structures and for strategic and operational advice regarding the implementation of construction measures.
- In your role, you are responsible for developing SBB technical guidelines for the design and construction of retaining structures and for conservation, maintenance and upkeep measures. You thus actively contribute to extending their service life and organise the continuing education of internal SBB specialists in this field.
- You manage research projects in innovation and development in the field of geotechnical structures and retaining walls as well as their inspection.
What you bring.
- A responsible, autonomous and independent approach characterises your work.
- You have experience leading technical teams and communicate appropriately with different stakeholders. You possess a broad network in the technical field which you are ready to develop both internally and externally.
- You bring several years of practical experience in geotechnical civil engineering and in-depth knowledge of reinforced concrete and natural stone retaining structures.
- You are familiar with the state of the art and technology in geotechnical civil engineering and have specialised knowledge in railway operations as well as regulations.
- You have a higher education qualification in civil/geotechnical engineering (FH/university/ETH).
- You have an excellent level of German (C1) and good knowledge (B2) of Italian or French.
