About the job
The University Clinic for Dermatology at the Inselspital Bern is one of the leading dermatology clinics in Switzerland. The Department of Dermatological Surgery is responsible for a broad range of outpatient and inpatient services – from oncological and Mohs surgery to reconstructive procedures and laser medicine. As a strategically important pillar of the clinic, the dermatological surgery department works closely with the Skin Tumour Centre, Dermatopathology, Plastic Surgery, and Oncology. We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded, medically excellent individual to lead this department.
What to expect
- Operational and strategic leadership of the Department of Dermatological Surgery: personnel management, process design, quality assurance.
- Independent performance of the entire dermatological surgical service spectrum: excisions, Mohs surgery, reconstructive procedures, and laser surgical treatments.
- Overall responsibility for dermatological surgical care – including capacity planning and further development of the service offering.
- Maintenance and development of collaborations with Plastic Surgery, Oncology, Dermatopathology, and other specialist disciplines.
- Responsibility for teaching and training of assistant doctors and students in dermatological surgery.
- Initiation and leadership of clinical research projects involving the department.
Your profile
- FMH specialist title in Dermatology and Venereology with proven, several years of expertise in dermatological surgery.
- Solid experience in Mohs surgery and reconstructive techniques.
- Initial leadership experience or strong interest in leading a department with conviction and personal responsibility.
- Entrepreneurial thinking: you strategically develop the surgical offering and think beyond the operating theatre.
- Enjoyment in training and supporting young colleagues as well as interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Scientific interest and willingness to actively participate in research and teaching.
- Fluent German and English, both spoken and written, as well as good knowledge of French (or willingness to acquire it quickly).
- Confident, collegial demeanour and high communication skills.
