The position is attached to the Surgery Department . This department provides care for patients both electively and in emergencies. It represents a centre of excellence, not only Swiss but also European, in several fields and surgical specialties.
You will join a dynamic department committed to innovation and continuous quality improvement, hosting numerous pilot and innovative projects for the institution, a department that values continuing education and professional development.
You will join one of the care units of the surgery department, which provides care for patients admitted electively or in emergencies in various surgical specialties (orthopaedics and traumatology, visceral surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, etc., depending on the assigned unit). You are responsible for ensuring high-quality pre- and post-operative care, with particular attention to safety, comfort, and optimal recovery of each patient.
You will provide comprehensive follow-up for patients before and after their surgical intervention. This includes preoperative preparation, pain management, as well as postoperative care aimed at preventing complications and promoting a swift return to autonomy.
You will perform the nursing clinical assessment (NCA) of the patients under your care to objectify clinical data, anticipate risks of complications, and adjust care in consultation with the medical and nursing team. A clinical leadership stance is expected: you are proactive, autonomous in decision-making, while actively contributing to the team’s dynamics and cohesion.
Throughout the hospital stay, you will conduct regular clinical evaluations to monitor the general condition and postoperative progress of patients. You will be particularly vigilant regarding risks associated with surgery: haemorrhagic or infectious complications, pain, pressure ulcers, falls, etc.
You will have the opportunity to enrich your practice by integrating innovative and complementary approaches to technical care, depending on the specificities of your assigned unit. You actively contribute to the well-being of patients throughout their hospital stay.
You collaborate closely with surgeons, doctors, physiotherapists, and other health professionals to ensure coordinated and personalised care for each patient.
Attentive and available, you support relatives throughout the care pathway, fully involving them to optimise the patient’s experience and stay.
You actively participate in creating a positive and caring work environment by engaging in initiatives aimed at improving quality of life within the team.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (HES) or an equivalent recognised qualification by the Swiss Red Cross.
Three years of practical experience in nursing is required. Professional experience in surgery is an asset; applications from motivated professionals willing to train in this field are also welcome.
You are proficient in French, both spoken and written, enabling you to provide high-quality handovers.
You master the nursing clinical assessment (NCA), or wish to develop this skill, and demonstrate a strong clinical leadership stance in your daily practice.
You possess a keen sense of organisation and priority management, essential in a demanding surgical environment marked by unpredictability. You show dynamism and good stress resistance, while maintaining calm and discernment in emergencies. You position yourself confidently and professionally within the multidisciplinary team, able to assert your clinical analysis while remaining attentive. You also demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a strong interest in surgical care.
