Software Test Engineer / Test Automation (m/f/d)

Role:
In this role, you take responsibility for quality assurance of a data governance software by planning, executing and continuously developing manual and automated tests. You are responsible for creating, maintaining and executing test cases, test logs and test plans, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the software through your careful analysis of test results, pipeline errors and software behaviour. You participate in the further development of test and automation processes as well as the CI/CD and testing pipeline. You work closely with software development, system engineering and product managers, bringing your programming skills, understanding of test principles and structured working style. As a career starter with an interest in software quality, test automation and technical contexts, you will systematically build your know-how and develop step by step into a specialist in software quality assurance.
Responsibilities:
- You perform manual and automated tests of our data governance software and further develop them.
- You create, maintain and execute test cases, test plans and test logs in a structured manner.
- In this role, you implement minor adjustments to existing test and automation processes.
- You contribute to the maintenance and further development of our CI/CD and testing pipeline.
- You analyse and report test results, pipeline errors and observed software behaviour.
- As a junior software quality assurance specialist, you work closely with development, system engineering and product managers.
Qualifications:
- Education, studies or initial professional experience related to computer science, software engineering, business informatics, system engineering or a similar technical field
- Solid programming skills in an object-oriented language, ideally C# / .NET or equivalent
- Interest in software quality, test automation and technical contexts as well as a strong willingness to learn
- Understanding of test principles such as test doubles, test lifecycle, statelessness and reproducibility (idempotence, immutability)
- Basic understanding of SOLID principles and software architecture, for example clear test boundaries, loose coupling and "separation of concerns"
- Careful, structured and solution-oriented working style as well as very good German and good English skills
