You are responsible for the stable operation and continuous development of a demanding on-premises infrastructure with a focus on servers, storage, and backup. You accompany the entire lifecycle of the platforms, automate recurring tasks, and ensure that the systems remain reliable, secure, and performant in the long term.
Responsibilities:
You are responsible for the lifecycle management of the on-premises infrastructure and proactively plan the renewal of servers, storage, and backup systems.
You operate and further develop the backup infrastructure and ensure recoverability through regular restore tests.
You take on engineering, operation, and further development of the storage infrastructure.
You operate and maintain the Windows server environment and continuously develop it further.
You automate recurring operational tasks with PowerShell.
You ensure patch management of Windows servers using Azure Update Manager.
You create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational documents.
You participate in platform and infrastructure projects and coordinate technical matters with internal departments and external suppliers.
You analyse and resolve complex faults in 2nd and 3rd level support.
Qualifications:
You have training in computer science with appropriate further education, HF/FH, or a comparable qualification.
You bring several years of practical experience as an ICT system engineer in the areas of servers, storage, and backup.
You have very good knowledge of Windows Server.
You have solid experience with backup concepts, replication, and restore procedures.
You are familiar with the lifecycle management of on-premises hardware.
Experience with Azure Update Manager is an advantage.
Knowledge of technologies such as Huawei Storage, IBM Tape Library, Veeam, NetVault, Cisco SAN, VMware, Proxmox VE or Red Hat OpenShift is a plus.
You work independently, in a structured and solution-oriented manner, and keep an overview even with complex faults.
You have very good German skills and understand Swiss German.
