About the job
Workshop and Assembly Manager
Lucerne - Full-time - by arrangement
Do you keep track when several assembly orders are running simultaneously and recognise early when something deviates from the plan?
For our client in the field of apparatus construction, we are looking for an experienced leader who combines technical understanding with organisation and leadership skills. In this key position, you ensure that orders are actively planned, accompanied and evaluated. You are close to the employees and daily business and create the basis for a high-performance workshop with clear processes.
What to expect
- You plan and control ongoing workshop, assembly and service orders and set clear priorities in daily business.
- You compare planned with actually required working hours and recognise deviations early.
- You investigate the causes of time, deadline or material deviations and ensure that the right information reaches the relevant points.
- You keep an eye on the status of ongoing orders and ensure that delays and bottlenecks are communicated transparently.
- You lead the employees in daily operations, distribute work sensibly and check the completed work for quality and completeness.
- You coordinate work preparation and ensure that material, information and resources are available on time.
- You accompany commissioning, repairs and service assignments internally as well as at the customer.
- You carry out technical inspections and approvals and ensure compliance with applicable quality and safety requirements.
- You support technical problems and contribute your experience in finding suitable solutions.
- You document relevant work, findings and deviations comprehensibly and thus create a reliable basis for future planning and calculation.
- You ensure reliable material management and keep an eye on the vehicle fleet and associated infrastructure.
What you bring
- You have completed a technical vocational training, for example as an agricultural machinery mechanic, construction machinery mechanic or in a comparable mechanical profession.
- You bring several years of professional experience from a technical workshop, assembly or service environment.
- You have a strong understanding of work preparation, order planning and the efficient organisation of a workshop.
- You can realistically assess the effort and progress of an order and recognise when planning and reality diverge.
- You actively follow up on deviations, ask the right questions and reliably communicate relevant findings.
- You work in a structured, reliable manner and keep an overview even with several parallel orders.
- You bring leadership experience or have already taken responsibility for employees, projects or workflows.
- You communicate confidently in German and can ideally communicate in English.
- If the situation requires, you are willing to occasionally take on assignments outside the workshop.
Why you would fit
- You like to organise and want to know at all times where an order currently stands.
- If four hours are planned for a job and it is completed significantly faster or slower, you want to understand why.
- You do not wait for someone to ask when problems arise. You inform early and bring possible solutions along.
- You can assess whether a delay was caused by missing material, technical difficulties, incorrect planning or other reasons.
- You understand leadership as active support of daily business and are present and approachable for your employees.
- You enjoy making processes more transparent and deriving concrete improvements for future orders from experience.
- You combine technical understanding with a healthy awareness of costs, deadlines and quality.
Onboarding & Training
Before you take responsibility for your area, you get to know it through daily business. During your training, you therefore work closely with employees, orders and technical processes. You see how planning is done, where information is generated and which interfaces are crucial in everyday life.
In the first weeks, you systematically build your understanding of processes, products, quality requirements and internal collaboration. At the same time, you get to know the people you will work with daily later. This gives you a solid insight into the workflows and requirements of everyday workshop life.
With growing experience, you gradually take over responsibility for planning, coordination and operational control. You develop a sense of which orders require special attention, where bottlenecks can arise and when early feedback is necessary.
The goal is clear: You know your area so well that you can make informed decisions, provide orientation to your team and lead the workshop with overview and personal responsibility.
What is offered
- A long-term perspective with responsibility for a central operational area.
- A role where your technical understanding is just as important as your ability to plan, coordinate and lead employees.
- A structured induction during which you get to know processes, employees and technical requirements directly in daily business.
- Scope to actively further develop planning, transparency and workflows.
- Short distances in daily work and the opportunity to tackle challenges directly and solution-oriented.
- A professionally equipped working environment and a conveniently located workplace.
- A varied activity between workshop, organisation, technology, employees and customers.
