With nearly 1,300 employees, the Department of Psychiatry fulfils a triple mission concerning the treatment of mental disorders, training, and research. Thus, the department's mission is to detect and effectively treat increasingly frequent and diverse pathologies while respecting patients and their relatives.

The Liaison Psychiatry and Crisis Intervention Service is responsible for the assessment, orientation, and follow-up of interdisciplinary treatment of psychiatric disorders in patients who are hospitalised or followed up in outpatient consultations across the various HUG sites. The service is also mandated to welcome, care for, and direct patients presenting to the HUG emergency department. The Service offers a stimulating and diverse clinical environment, at the heart of the hospital, fostering interactions with numerous medical and surgical specialty services. It also provides a quality training framework, with a structured internal training programme including clinical presentations and other interactive educational formats.

The Liaison Psychiatry Unit (LPU) is situated at the interface between various medical and surgical specialties on the one hand, and psychiatry on the other. It operates in hospital settings at the patient’s bedside, and for non-hospitalised patients whose health status requires the organisation of outpatient follow-up in a somatic specialty, whether or not following hospitalisation. Its deployment allows the management of complex situations combining somatic manifestations or disorders with psychological suffering or symptoms. Across all services covered by liaison psychiatry, the LPU team, composed of psychiatrists and psychologists, responds to rich and varied clinical needs, always at the request of the physician responsible for the patient. Generally, the discipline of liaison psychiatry contributes, within the general hospital, to the development of a global and integrative approach to the patient transcending the body-mind duality. The psychological interventions targeted are based on this integrative vision and are part of multidisciplinary work around the patient, encompassing clinical, training, and research missions.

You will join the Liaison Psychiatry Unit (LPU) and, within a multidisciplinary team, ensure the psychological and psychotherapeutic assessment, orientation, and follow-up of patients hospitalised in somatic care units or followed up on an outpatient basis within care provided by the neurology, neurosurgery, and neurorehabilitation services under the supervision of a liaison psychiatrist. You hold a Master’s degree in psychology and are in training for or have obtained a MAS in psychotherapy. You have personal clinical experience in the field of psychosomatics or liaison psychiatry, and at least three years of clinical experience.

You have good teamwork skills, are able to cope with stress, and adapt to the diversity of clinical situations. You have good analytical and synthesis skills and can work independently.

You hold the cantonal practice licence or are able to obtain it before starting your position.

For non-French-speaking candidates, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.
