About the job
The Haut-Lac Bilingual International School is seeking a motivated, meticulous and organised science laboratory technician to join the Science department of its secondary school from January 2027.
In close collaboration with the science teachers, the appointed person will provide the technical and practical support necessary for teaching biology, chemistry and physics, as well as the preparation, organisation and smooth running of the laboratories, in compliance with safety standards.

Main responsibilities
The laboratory technician will be specifically responsible for:
- preparing, setting up and tidying equipment, chemicals, solutions and materials needed for practical work;
- assisting teachers in preparing experiments in biology, chemistry and physics;
- ensuring the maintenance, cleanliness, organisation and safety of laboratories and preparation areas;
- guaranteeing the proper storage, labelling and handling of chemicals and scientific equipment;
- managing stocks, consumables and orders necessary for the operation of the laboratories;
- carrying out routine maintenance and simple repairs of equipment;
- ensuring the appropriate disposal of chemicals and biological materials in accordance with applicable regulations;
- keeping safety documentation up to date and contributing to risk assessments;
- supporting the preparation of complex practical work and experimental projects carried out by students;
- actively contributing to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Required profile
We are looking for a person who must have:
- a recognised qualification in the scientific or laboratory field: Federal VET Diploma as a laboratory technician, Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physics or related field, or equivalent qualification;
- practical laboratory experience and good mastery of preparing experiments and scientific equipment;
- a good knowledge of health and safety rules applicable in laboratories, especially regarding the handling, storage and disposal of chemicals;
- excellent organisational skills, rigour and attention to detail;
- the ability to work independently and manage priorities;
- an excellent team spirit and the ability to collaborate closely with teachers;
- a good command of English and/or French, enabling work in a bilingual school environment.
Experience in a school, university or educational environment is an asset. Knowledge of the IB MYP/PEI and/or Diploma Programme would also be appreciated.
Conditions
Work rate: 50% annualised. Work spread over 4 days. 6 weeks of paid holiday and 6/7 weeks of unpaid leave to be taken during the school holidays.
