Head of Building Construction (m/f/d)

Role:

On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced leader as Head of Building Construction for the operational and strategic management of a high-performing building construction department. You will be responsible for capacity, personnel, budget and resource planning, lead the subordinate site managers and ensure the economical execution of ongoing construction projects. In addition to financial controlling and process optimisation, you will drive strategic projects, innovations and the further development of efficient construction processes. The position combines comprehensive leadership and result responsibility with sound technical and business management expertise within an established construction company.

Responsibilities:

• Operational and professional management of the building construction department as well as leadership and support of the subordinate site managers

• Responsibility for capacity and utilisation planning as well as optimal allocation of personnel and resources to ongoing construction projects

• Participation in long-term personnel, resource and inventory planning taking into account the project pipeline

• Active involvement in budget planning and budget setting as well as responsibility for compliance with economic targets

• Control and monitoring of finances, key figures and departmental controlling and derivation of appropriate measures in case of deviations

• Professional support of site managers regarding costs, deadlines, claims, contracts and complex execution issues

• Ensuring economical and contract-compliant project execution in accordance with Swiss construction and contract law

• Continuous optimisation of processes, workflows and standards within the building construction organisation

• Initiation and management of strategic projects and innovation initiatives as well as structured integration of new approaches into operational business

• Further development of digital construction, controlling and management processes and promotion of a uniform data basis

• Participation in the implementation and further development of central purchasing and procurement management

• Support of management in strategic planning, investment decisions and further development of the building construction business unit

Qualifications:

• Technical construction education as a certified master builder, civil engineer FH/ETH, site manager HF or comparable higher qualification

• Several years of professional and leadership experience in building construction, ideally in a divisional, departmental or comparable line function

• Sound knowledge of Swiss construction and contract law as well as economical execution of building construction projects

• Experience in budgeting, financial controlling, resource and capacity planning

• Proven experience in the professional and personnel management of site managers and project leaders

• Knowledge of process optimisation, strategic project management and digitalisation within a construction company

• Confident handling of common ERP, controlling, calculation and construction software systems
