About the job
Following the appointment of the incumbent as General Director, the Public Transport of the Lausanne Region (tl) are recruiting for their future Director of Road & Real Estate. In a context of growth in transport offer and the implementation of major projects, such as fleet decarbonisation, infrastructure development and the transformation of transport systems, tl are seeking a personality capable of carrying a strategic vision and steering the evolution of the entire road system.
A major player in mobility in French-speaking Switzerland, the Public Transport of the Lausanne Region (tl) ensure nearly 135 million journeys each year thanks to the commitment of more than 2,000 employees. Their mission is to offer simple, innovative and sustainable mobility, serving the population and the development of the Lausanne metropolitan area.
Reporting to the General Director, you define and implement the strategy of the Road and Real Estate Directorate in line with the company’s ambitions.
You lead an organisation of around 180 employees, distributed across five domains (for the road system: management & performance, passenger vehicles, traction energy infrastructures; for all tl: buildings & real estate, facility management) relying on your managers to set the course, support transformations and create the conditions for sustainable performance.
As such, you are responsible for the asset and infrastructure management strategy of the road system as well as buildings and real estate for the entire company. You guarantee their development, availability and long-term evolution, while reconciling safety, quality of service, investment control and operational excellence. You thus contribute to decisions that will sustainably shape the mobility of the Lausanne metropolitan area.
In close collaboration with other directorates, you support the company’s major transformation projects, develop synergies between professions and ensure efficient use of resources. You also represent tl with authorities, institutional partners and key stakeholders.
You hold a higher education degree in engineering, business management or an equivalent qualification and have held a management position within an organisation active in public transport, mobility or comparable infrastructure management. Your career has enabled you to develop solid expertise in managing technical systems, asset management strategy, investment planning and leading complex organisations.
You operate comfortably in environments where technical, human, financial and political issues intersect. A good knowledge of the Vaud institutional and political context is a real asset. Good knowledge of German would ideally complement your profile.
Beyond your career: You enjoy building as much as deciding. You know how to take a step back while remaining close to the field. You naturally unite teams around a common vision, support change with conviction and make decisions in the collective interest. If the challenges related to sustainable mobility, public infrastructure and service to the population inspire you, you will find here a role where your impact will be concrete and lasting.
Joining tl means contributing to shaping the mobility of tomorrow within a committed and meaningful company. You will hold a strategic role, at the heart of decisions, with the opportunity to lead projects that will sustainably transform the Vaud territory.
tl is committed to diversity and inclusion. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of their background, identity, age, gender, origin, disability or any other personal characteristic. We are convinced that the diversity of experiences and perspectives is a strength to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s mobility.
