About the job
The social service of the City of Geneva (SOC) contributes to improving the living environment and conditions of the inhabitants of our city by creating connections and enabling them to fully participate in social life. Prioritising a local approach, the SOC offers services and develops projects aimed at promoting solidarity, integration, and inclusion of people in vulnerable situations, in collaboration with institutional and associative partners. The Social Emergency System in particular responds to the needs of people experiencing homelessness or severe hardship in 5 dedicated facilities (Emergency shelters and Left Bank social club).
To ensure this reception during the coming winter and to prepare for the possible opening of an additional shelter in case of severe cold weather, the SOC seeks to strengthen its existing team and is opening several positions for

Your mission
- Ensure the reception and socio-sanitary supervision of vulnerable people;
- Conduct first-level socio-sanitary assessments and take appropriate measures (information, guidance, etc.);
- Support beneficiaries in accessing personal hygiene by implementing adapted strategies that promote the maintenance or restoration of hygiene compatible with respect for their dignity and autonomy. Also support them in managing their personal belongings;
- Manage the group and enforce the defined framework for people in the reception facility; ensure coexistence and safety of the place;
- Engage with homeless people in public spaces, create a climate of trust, assess the situation, and decide on measures to be taken if necessary;
- Perform all administrative tasks related to the requirements of the role (record observations in reports, use the database, etc.).
Your profile
- Bachelor of Arts HES-SO in social work or equivalent training and/or proven experience in professional service activities where interpersonal relationships are paramount;
- Capacity for empathy and authority with a vulnerable public;
- Responsiveness in emergency situations and initiative;
- Multilingual skills are an asset;
- Driving licence;
- Willingness to accept irregular hours (day, evening, night, weekends and public holidays)
