The ENCORE Performing Arts Academy is a vibrant pillar of Ecolint's extra-curricular programme. As a Street Dance Teacher, you will introduce students to the diverse umbrella of urban dance styles, including Locking, Popping, Waacking, Hip Hop, House, and Breaking (Breakdance). By leading sessions that focus on foundational techniques and creative expression, you will help students develop their solo and group dance and performance skills, fostering the self-agency and confidence central to the Ecolint mission.

Your role and responsibilities

• Design and deliver a year-long (32-lesson) curriculum of structured Street Dance sessions tailored for Primary, Middle, and Secondary school students.
• Lead inspiring and dynamic classes focusing on the foundational elements of breaking, locking, and popping.
• Develop students' solo and group dance skills, enhancing their overall performance presence and technical acquisition.
• Stimulate the interests and motivations of young people in developing the craft of performance.
• Help organise events throughout the year, including showcases and end-of-year recitals.
• Maintain an inclusive and well-paced environment that fosters a positive learning experience.
• Manage administrative duties linked to the post with rigour, upholding safeguarding procedures and communicating regularly with the ENCORE team and families.

Who we are looking for

You will thrive in this role if you possess:

• Recognised professional dance training (e.g., Bachelor's degree) or teaching certifications from bodies such as the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) or the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing (UKA) or similar.
• Specialized qualifications ranging from associate-level certifications to Level 4 Diplomas in Dance Education (DDE).
• Significant experience teaching Street Dance (Hip Hop, Break Dance, etc.) to children and teenagers aged 5 to 18.
• A strong foundation in urban dance styles, with deep knowledge of the foundations of breaking, locking, and popping.
• Experience in performance or competition contexts is valued as a complement to teaching practice.
• Commitment to safety and child protection, including appropriate background checks.
• Fluency in English and French (both spoken and written).
• A valid Swiss work permit or Swiss/EU citizenship.

• Ability to inspire and support young people, appropriately teaching material that excites and inspires them.
• Excellent organisational skills and the initiative required to develop the skills and confidence of students.
