Background
In the area of Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED), the focus is on translating innovative scientific findings into effective therapies for patients. The goal is to sustainably solve complex medical questions through modern research, responsibility and scientific curiosity.
The unit Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) accompanies active substances along the entire value chain - from target evaluation to market launch. Within PS, the Bioanalytics and Biomarkers (BioAM) chapter is responsible for the development, establishment and application of bioanalytical and biomarker-based methods in clinical studies. In close collaboration with therapeutic departments, hypotheses are translated into innovative medicines.
Your Role
As a Lab Associate in the area of Cellular and Functional Biomarkers, you make a significant contribution to the development and implementation of modern biomarker strategies for preclinical and clinical programmes. You work hands-on in the laboratory as well as at the interface with external partners and CROs.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Planning, development and validation of complex cellular, functional and soluble protein biomarker assays
-
Independent execution, analysis and critical evaluation of experimental results in compliance with regulatory and GxP requirements

Design, implementation and optimisation of experimental protocols including data interpretation and report preparation

Support and accompaniment of method transfers to external partners as well as technical troubleshooting
-
Evaluation and implementation of new technologies to further develop clinical biomarker strategies
-
Close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data quality, scientific excellence and timely implementation

Presentation of results in internal and external meetings
-
Active participation in an innovation, safety and compliance culture (SHE)
Profile - What You Bring
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (no PhD) in a scientific field
-
At least 2 years of industry or CRO experience in the development of biomarker assays in a regulated environment

Solid practical experience with, among others:
-
Cellular and functional assays (flow cytometry, pFlow, ELISpot/FluoroSpot, HTRF)

Ligand binding assays (ELISA, ELLA, Simoa, Elecsys, MSD)

Experience in implementation, optimisation and troubleshooting of bioanalytical methods

Very good understanding of GxP regulations

Experience with pharmacodynamic biomarkers in preclinical or clinical programmes is an advantage

Scientific credibility through publications or external presentations

Proactive, team-oriented personality with a high willingness to learn
