As a Trainee in Strategic Purchasing, you will learn to understand global procurement markets, help shape strategic decisions, conduct negotiations, and take responsibility for key suppliers, so that in the future you can ideally support the core processes of production and product development as a strategic purchaser and continuously improve our procurement market position.

Qualifications and Attributes

• Master's degree (FH/University) in a technical or economic field and willingness for an external purchasing-specific further education
• Very good German (C2) and good English skills (B2)
• Excellent IT skills and adept use of AI
• Willingness to travel about 20% (supplier and plant visits)
• Strong communication skills and flair for negotiations
• Excellent self-organisation and structured working style
• High resilience, stress resistance, and conflict management skills for confident action in demanding negotiation situations

The Programme

Stage 1: Core Process Production (6 weeks)
At the beginning, you will work directly in our core process production and get to know SIGA’s value creation. You will develop a deep understanding of our production processes and procurement requirements. This will provide you with the foundation to later support production optimally through an ideal purchasing strategy.

Stage 2: Core Process Product Development & Introduction to Strategic Purchasing (6 weeks)
Afterwards, you will gain insights into product development and be gradually introduced to the tasks of strategic purchasing. You will get to know our supplier base, procurement markets, purchasing processes, and our standards, analyse interrelations along the supply chain, and understand how strategic procurement decisions contribute to supporting the core processes of production and product development.

Stage 3: Taking on Responsibility and External Further Education
Then you will gradually take responsibility for suppliers and strategic procurement topics. At the same time, we invest in your future and you will complete an external further education in purchasing and deepen your theoretical expertise. Afterwards, you will be ready for your responsible specialist role in strategic purchasing.
