Legal Trainee 80 – 100 % Fixed-Term for 1 Year
Exciting tasks await:
- Conducts research for lawyers and caseworkers in complex cases
- Reviews applications, objections or previous decisions and issues complex rulings
- Drafts submissions such as applications, lawsuits and statements to the court
- Supports the legal service in other activities
- Conducts negotiations with opposing parties, courts, authorities, insured persons and lawyers
- Represents the public unemployment insurance fund in court
What you bring:
- Successfully completed Master’s degree as a lawyer
- Knowledge of administrative law, social insurance law, civil procedure law, labour law and debt enforcement law is desirable
- Interest and ability to engage in solution-oriented work on complex legal issues
- Quick comprehension and good editorial skills with very good German language skills
- Analytical, precise, reliable and independent working style
The internship serves as initial professional experience and also for preparation for a bar exam, among other things. The internship usually lasts 12 months.

By enforcing the Unemployment Insurance Act, the Office for Economy and Labour (AWA) advises, mediates and enables job seekers to reintegrate into the labour market at the seven Regional Employment Centres (RAV). Furthermore, the AWA is responsible for paying unemployment benefits and provides the range of labour market measures. The AWA ensures occupational safety and health protection for employees through advice and inspections of companies. It also monitors compliance with applicable working time regulations and supports employers in matters of short-time work and bad weather compensation.
