About the job
The University Clinic for Dermatology has an inpatient department and a large outpatient clinic with numerous specialist consultations, including a skin tumour centre and surgery. Dermatopathology, as the link between diagnostics, treatment, teaching, and research, represents a strategically important medical focus of the clinic.
What to expect
- Close teamwork among dermatopathologists/pathologists and clinicians.
- Independent diagnostics across the entire spectrum of dermatological histopathology.
- Weekly presentation of histological specimens during clinical-pathological discussions, as well as in collaboration with the skin tumour board.
- Continuous adjustment of the range of services and offerings.
- Initiation, leadership, and support of research projects involving dermatopathology.
- Participation in teaching, further education, and training.
What you bring
- Specialist in dermatology with completed training/focus in dermatopathology or specialist in pathology with profound expertise in dermatopathology.
- You have already obtained the diploma for dermatology in Frankfurt (ICDP - UEMS International Board Certification in Dermatopathology) or will do so shortly.
- You enjoy morphology and wish to be responsible for high-quality dermatopathology at our clinic.
- Application of molecular pathological diagnostics for dermatological, dermatopathological, and dermatopaediatric issues.
- You show interest in academic dermatology and pursue your own research activities.
- You think and act flexibly, work independently, and are resilient.
- You communicate confidently in German (spoken and written); knowledge of French is an advantage.
Our offer
- In our accredited dermatopathology laboratory, more than 20,000 skin specimens are processed and evaluated annually. Our services include routine examinations of paraffin-fixed material and frozen sections (Mohs surgery) as well as a wide range of (immuno)histochemical investigations.
- In addition, there is close collaboration with the Pathology Department of the University of Bern, which, as operator of the Clinical Genomics Laboratory of the Inselspital, also offers comprehensive molecular pathological diagnostics.
- Our histology laboratory is also recognised as an ICDP training centre and is committed to promoting professional junior staff.
