The Department of Primary Care Medicine (DMPR) has the societal mission to provide access to quality care for all through community-based medicine, to ensure the management of minor medical and surgical emergencies, to promote prevention among citizens, to provide medical knowledge for judicial investigations, and to promote the health of travellers.

The Primary Care Medicine Service provides outpatient care for adult patients within primary care medicine. This service also offers outpatient emergency medical services to the population. As part of the Geneva University Hospitals’ public service missions, it provides access to care for disadvantaged populations due to their age, social, economic, or legal status (asylum seekers, those refused entry, undocumented persons, prisoners), or lifestyle habits; if necessary, the primary care medicine service also ensures continuity of their care.

As Care Team Leader (RES), you will oversee and manage the nursing teams of the Therapeutic Education Unit (UETP), the Dependency Unit in Primary Care Medicine (UDMPR), and the Tropical and Humanitarian Medicine Service (SMTH).

You will exercise motivating leadership that promotes the quality and safety of care, the development of professional skills, and the engagement of staff. In this role, you support your team members through individualised follow-up and regular feedback, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and valuing professional practices.

You are responsible for planning, organising, and optimising resources, ensuring efficient allocation of staff according to activity needs and institutional priorities. The role requires mobility between different activity sites; you must therefore be willing to work across multiple sites depending on organisational needs and team activities.

Thanks to your excellent interpersonal skills, ability to unite teams, and openness to change, you support professionals through organisational transformations and evolving care practices. You actively contribute to the development of clinical practices, the integration of new professions, and the promotion of an interprofessional culture that enhances the quality of care.

You encourage collaborative work and develop team cohesion to meet current and future challenges of the healthcare system, while embodying and promoting the Geneva University Hospitals’ institutional values.

Your actions align with the policies defined by the Nursing Directorate, and you implement the work priorities and strategic projects initiated by the Department of Primary Care Medicine.

Through your interpersonal ease and partnership skills, you contribute to the development and coordination of collaborations with actors in the Geneva health network. You also coordinate structures or projects involving external partners.

You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent diploma recognised by the Swiss Red Cross, as well as a diploma as an expert in emergency nursing. A practising licence for the canton of Geneva is essential.

A Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in health institution management is required or must be obtained during employment.

You are an experienced manager or have been selected for the RES leadership development programme under the aegis of the Human Resources and Nursing Directorates.

You have at least five years’ experience in a hospital setting, and managerial experience is an asset.

You have excellent proficiency with common and institutional IT tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, DPA, DPI, etc.).

You possess strong managerial and organisational skills enabling you to lead teams in a complex environment, manage priorities, and support staff development.

You demonstrate excellent adaptability and decision-making skills in complex or unforeseen situations, as well as good stress resistance.

Experience in outpatient care, community health, therapeutic education, tropical medicine, or humanitarian work is a significant advantage.

You have a good knowledge of the Geneva community health network and a strong interest in global health issues and intercultural care.

Experience in coordinating projects or structures involving external partners, including international organisations, NGOs, or academic institutions, is highly valued.

You have a good level of spoken and written English, enabling you to work comfortably in an international and multicultural environment.

Finally, you are recognised for your interpersonal skills, compassionate communication, and ability to develop sustainable partnerships.
