Your Tasks
General Assignment: You are responsible for the administrative support of the Animal Experimentation department. You take on various organisational tasks, assist in the preparation of annual reports, and manage the website.
Trinational Animal Experimentation Commission: In this demanding role, you manage the secretariat of the trinational animal experimentation commission.
Licensing: After thorough training, you take responsibility for monitoring the continuing education of persons working with animal experiments.
Competent Contact and Point of Contact: You serve as the contact and information point for animal welfare officers of applicant companies and research institutions.
Your Profile
Experience: You bring several years of professional experience, ideally from the academic or industrial research environment. You have successfully demonstrated your expertise in organisation and communication in previous positions.
Personality: You are characterised by initiative, independence, and confident communication. Your friendly manner, team spirit, as well as your precise and reliable working style, convince in everyday work.
Education: You have a commercial education or a comparable qualification. You are proficient in common IT applications such as MS Office and are open to quickly learning new IT applications.
Language: You have excellent German and English skills, both spoken and written. You communicate effortlessly in both languages and enjoy composing sophisticated texts.
Insight into Our Work
The Basel-Stadt Veterinary Office, assigned to the Department of Health, is responsible for animal disease and animal welfare law tasks as well as areas in species protection and food safety. It informs, advises, monitors, and enforces to ensure legal provisions are complied with. Meat inspections are among the activities of the Veterinary Office, as are issues concerning the import and export of animals and animal products, animal health, and the protection of pets, wild, and farm animals. The Veterinary Office thus makes an important contribution to the welfare of humans and animals.
The Basel-Stadt Veterinary Office makes an important contribution to animal welfare in the fields of research/life sciences in the canton as well as in the Northwestern Switzerland region. For this purpose, it is entrusted with managing the secretariat of the Trinational Animal Experimentation Commission (BS, BL, AG). The Veterinary Office reviews all animal experimentation applications and issues the corresponding permits upon request of the Animal Experimentation Commission. It regularly conducts inspections in animal testing facilities and enforces the relevant legislation among experiment conductors in the canton.
