We are looking to appoint a

Senior Consultant Forensic Psychiatry

The field of Forensic Psychiatry includes the Central Psychiatric Expert Assessment Unit, the forensic outpatient clinic (including prison psychiatry, care of forensic residential homes and the Kalchrain measure centre) as well as three forensic wards (medium security level) with 47 beds and several crisis intervention rooms. Since the opening of the third measure ward in 2022 and the expansion of outpatient care, the forensic unit has been in a constant dynamic development and offers diverse opportunities for shaping the service as well as for research activities.

You will take on

• You will ensure, together with your team on ward F1, the forensic psychiatric medical and pharmacological treatment for clients subject to measures under Art. 59 of the Criminal Code on your ward (13 beds) and ensure the operation of the 4 crisis intervention beds (together with the other senior consultants in forensic psychiatry). The forensic management team supports each other in the overall care of all areas.
• Together with the other team leaders and ward managers, you will be involved in the further development and quality assurance of inpatient treatment and you will be responsible for supervising assistant doctors.
• Finally, you will take on clients for offence-preventive psychotherapy. There is also the possibility, if suitable, to prepare forensic psychiatric expert reports, especially with a view to obtaining the specialist title in Forensic Psychiatry.

You bring with you

• Diploma as a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy
• Clinical experience in forensic psychiatry
• Ongoing or completed psychotherapy training
• Knowledge of offence-specific therapy methods
• Interest in forensic topics and issues as well as in long-term therapies for all psychiatric disorders
• Flexibility, collegiality and enjoyment of forensic psychiatry
