2 ESU Coordinators (Emergency Support Team) at 20% each

About the job

The Emergency Support Team (ESU) is a service of the Catholic Church of the canton of Vaud and the Reformed Evangelical Church of the canton of Vaud, recognised by the National Network for Psychological Emergency Assistance (RNAPU). In close collaboration with emergency services, notably the Vaud Cantonal Police, the ESU provides psychosocial support to people facing critical events.

To ensure the smooth operation of this 24-hour service, the coordinator is responsible for the operational coordination of the ESU, participates in interventions, supports team members, and develops collaborations with institutional partners. They also contribute to the strategic management of the service in liaison with the relevant authorities.

In preparation for the retirement of the current holder, the ESU is looking for two people to share the role of:

ESU Coordinator (Emergency Support Team) at 20% each
(total activity rate: 40%)

Main activities:

• Ensure the operational and administrative coordination of the ESU.
• Organise on-call duties, supervisions, training sessions, and monitor team members.
• Participate in interventions and lead the service during major events or complex situations.
• Manage the administrative aspects of the service (schedules, statistics, reports, budget, and material resources).
• Develop and maintain collaborations with institutional partners, specialised networks, and the strategic committee.
• Represent the ESU to partners, authorities, media, and promote its mission.
• Contribute to the development of team members' skills and the continuous improvement of the service.

Profile sought:

• Specialist training according to RNAPU criteria (National Network for Psychological Emergency Assistance) or similar training (master’s degree in psychology, medicine, or theology).
• Theological training recognised by the Churches.
• Experience in ecclesiastical ministry and emergency support is essential.
• Strong skills in crisis management, emergency psychology and/or adult education, as well as excellent analytical, organisational, and stress resistance abilities.
• Ability to work in a network with institutional partners and to exercise responsibilities with autonomy and discernment.
• High flexibility required, as working hours are adapted according to interventions.

Workplace: Mainly home-based, remote work. Travel within the canton of Vaud.
