In this role as a System Engineer Unix / Linux, you will work on highly available system landscapes, help shape modern infrastructure services, and ensure that performance, stability, and security are always at a top level. Your Tasks
- Further development, renewal, and maintenance of a versatile IT infrastructure (web, database and mail clusters, storage systems, networks, software stack)
- Planning, engineering, and integration of new services and technologies – from conception through launch to stable operation
- Ensuring system security (security & robustness), including monitoring, threat detection, and remediation of security vulnerabilities
- Documentation of system architectures, concepts, as well as disaster and recovery scenarios
- Close collaboration with the System Operations team on configuration management, rollouts, fault analysis, and debugging
- Deployment, adaptation, and further development of open-source software
- Opportunity to specialise depending on project, interest, and experience (e.g. security, storage, networking, automation)
Our Requirements
- Completed computer science degree (FH) or solid practical experience as an independent Unix/Linux engineer
- Very good knowledge of Unix/Linux as well as internet and infrastructure environments
- Sound understanding of network technologies and protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, TLS, NFS, proxy
- Experience with shell scripting and ideally other scripting or automation languages
- Analytical, structured thinking with a high degree of personal responsibility
- Interest in security topics and stable, scalable system architectures
- Independent, reliable working style and enjoyment of teamwork
- Good German skills as well as solid English skills
