Presentation
To complete its team, the Buildings and Works Service, Unibat, is looking for an engineer to act as the client representative.
The service operates around thirty buildings dedicated to teaching and research, including laboratories and a centralised energy production and distribution management. With ageing infrastructure, several heritage-listed buildings, and an evolving regulatory framework, numerous major projects are being developed on the campus, each with its own technical, energy, and organisational specificities. The open position offers a diverse range of activities, in terms of project size, technical specifics, and human collaboration.

Your Activities
In your role as client representative, you will be responsible for managing contractors and companies through all phases and at all levels of construction projects for installations, infrastructure, equipment, or any type of electrical engineering operation. In this capacity, you will lead the processes related to needs assessment; strategic and operational planning; programming of studies and execution; in order to provide reliable decision-making bases to meet user expectations. You will monitor the energy consumption trends across the entire site, identify any deviations, and propose optimisations. You will work closely with your engineer and architect colleagues, operations managers, logistics and grounds teams, as well as other UNIL services and our institutional or governmental partners.
Your Profile
- Higher engineering education (EPFL, HES, or equivalent) – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction and related energy issues.

Global vision and sense of perspective, analytical and synthesis skills. Autonomy and sense of responsibility. Leadership.
- Organisation and time management. Decision-making spirit and determination. Self-control and stress management. Spirit of mutual aid and collaboration.
- Good knowledge of public procurement and state decision-making procedures.
- If possible, training in building technologies, energy and sustainable development, CAS in energy optimisation of installations or in energy renovation of buildings.
