About the job
80% - 100% | IT / Business Engineering | Zurich | Experienced Professionals with Personnel Responsibility
You lead and transform our organisational unit IT Operations Management (ITOM). Together with your team, you ensure Major Incident Management, 7x24h operational monitoring, and the control of business-critical processing networks of the bank. In a complex enterprise IT landscape within the highly regulated banking environment, you develop the team with technical foresight and pragmatism from a traditional process organisation into a modern, engineering-oriented IT Operations hub. You drive automation and observability forward, establish modern post-mortem and learning cultures, and prepare operational operations for the future.
- Overall Operational Responsibility & Stability: Ensuring 7x24h operations (OCC), Major Incident Management, error-free execution of business-critical job networks, and support during hypercare phases.
- Team Leadership & Responsibility: You take the existing team of around 15 employees on the journey – you specifically promote technical understanding, strengthen personal responsibility, and gradually transform manual workflows into automated, data-driven processes.
- Engineering Mindset & Toil Reduction: You identify recurring manual tasks and drive standardisation and runbook automation together with your team to noticeably minimise operational friction losses.
- Blameless Post-Mortems & Resilience: Establishing a modern error and learning culture in problem management. Causes are not only documented but systematically understood and sustainably resolved in cooperation with the engineering teams.
- Collaboration on Equal Terms: As the most important operational partner and "power user," you formulate clear requirements for software development as well as platform, cloud, and observability teams and speak their technical language.
- Process Evolution: Continuous development and optimisation of ITSM and operational processes to increase stability, efficiency, and service quality.
- Solid Technical Background: Education or degree in computer science/business informatics (or comparable practical experience) with a solid understanding of modern IT architectures, platforms, software development, and automation principles. We expect proven experience in operating complex enterprise IT landscapes (mission-critical systems, high availability, ITSM processes).
- Empathetic Leadership & Change Competence: Experience in leading and especially developing IT operations teams of more than 10 employees. You enjoy introducing employees with different experience backgrounds to new methods and technologies.
- Resilience & Communication Skills: Confident appearance during major incidents with audience-appropriate communication – from engineers to top management.
- Modern Operations & SRE Pragmatism: Practical knowledge in incident and problem management, combined with an understanding of SRE principles (toil reduction, development towards observability, blameless post-mortems).
- Industry Understanding: Experience in regulated environments (preferably financial services) and understanding of business-critical core banking processes.
- Language Skills: Very good German skills in spoken and written form; English skills are an advantage.
- Culture of continuous development – technically, professionally, and personally
- Exciting and diverse range of tasks with many networking opportunities
