The Private Insurance and Suva Ombudsman acts independently, neutrally and free of charge in cases of problems and disputes concerning insurance with affiliated private insurers, Suva and other public law accident insurers.

We help to redress the imbalance of knowledge and power between policyholders and insurance companies, and to ensure access to justice for policyholders who are not already represented by a legal professional.

To complete our team, we are looking for a committed and dynamic individual as of 1 November 2026 or by agreement for the position of

Lawyer

specialising in insurance law

Work rate: 100%

Contract type: Permanent position (open-ended)

Languages: French (native speaker or excellent command, negotiation-level proficiency)

Workplace: Neuchâtel (and remote work)

Start date: 1 November 2026 or by agreement

Your tasks in this role

• Handle legal files and requests (in writing and by telephone) in French
• Conduct negotiations in French; proficiency in English is an asset
• Assess and clarify complex legal issues across all branches of insurance

What you bring to this role

• Swiss university law degree with a lawyer’s licence
• Several years of professional experience (at least 5 years) in insurance law, ideally with solid practice in legal assessment and claims handling in the areas of the LCA (life and non-life) and the LAA
• An autonomous, conscientious and responsible working style, combined with a strong team spirit
• Negotiation skills, empathy and confidence in delicate interview situations
• High motivation and good stress resistanceA strong service orientationFluency in French expression when communicating with diverse target audiences
