Senior Accountant in Basel (m/f/d)

Role:

For an internationally active industrial company in the Basel region, we are looking for an experienced accounting professional who feels comfortable in a demanding corporate environment and wants to take responsibility for several companies. The company is technologically driven, internationally positioned and offers a finance environment where high professional standards are combined with efficient and increasingly digitalised processes.

In this role, you are responsible for key areas of group accounting and ensure reliable financial reporting according to Swiss GAAP FER and IFRS. In addition to operational accounting, demanding closing tasks, reconciliations and the further development of accounting processes are the focus.

Responsibilities:

• You ensure correct general ledger accounting for the companies and areas of responsibility assigned to you.

• You independently prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements according to Swiss GAAP FER and IFRS.

• You analyse balance sheet and income statement items and clarify anomalies as well as more complex business transactions.

• You calculate and post provisions, accruals and other periodic closing entries.

• You perform regular balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure comprehensible documentation.

• You reconcile intercompany positions with the involved companies and clear discrepancies.

• You reliably prepare VAT returns and other finance-related declarations.

• You provide high-quality financial data for internal and group-wide reporting.

• You are a competent contact person for internal and external auditors during audits.

• You independently assess complex accounting and financial reporting issues and develop appropriate solutions.

• You identify optimisation potential in existing finance processes and support their automation and standardisation.

• You actively contribute your accounting expertise to ERP, finance and transformation projects.

Qualifications:

• Advanced training in finance and accounting, for example federal diploma, higher technical college, university of applied sciences or a comparable qualification

• Several years of experience in a demanding financial accounting or accounting function

• Very good knowledge of general ledger accounting and periodic closing tasks

• Solid experience with accounting according to Swiss GAAP FER

• Good practical knowledge of IFRS or comparable international accounting standards

• Experience with multiple companies, corporate structures or an international environment is an advantage

• Confident understanding of VAT, accruals, provisions and balance sheet reconciliations

• Good knowledge of a modern ERP system; SAP or SAP S/4HANA is especially welcome

• Very good Excel skills and a strong affinity for digital finance processes

• Good German and English skills
