Medical Director

Cantonally governed public law institution, the CNP is tasked with leading the health policy of the canton of Neuchâtel in the field of mental health, in collaboration with partner institutions. The CNP aims to rehabilitate patients suffering from mental disorders through the adoption of an integrated and community psychiatry model; it implements public policies for the promotion and prevention of mental health; it acts as a reference centre in the field of professional training and research in psychiatry.

Medical Director

As a member of the Management Committee and strategic partner of the General Management, you carry the medical vision of the institution and guarantee the quality, safety and relevance of medical and therapeutic services.

In close collaboration with the Care Management and support departments, you define and implement the clinical governance policy of the CNP.

You unite the medical and psychology teams around a common vision, encourage innovation and ensure the continuous adaptation of services to the needs of the population and the developments of modern psychiatry.

You also play a major role in the development of medical skills, clinical research and the institutional influence of the CNP at cantonal, national and international levels.

Within the scope of your role you will be called upon to:

Medical leadership and clinical governance

• Define and deploy the clinical governance policy of the CNP.
• Guarantee the quality and safety of medical and therapeutic services.
• Promote continuous improvement of clinical practices and the development of innovation.
• Ensure compliance with professional standards, ethical principles and legal requirements.

Strategic management

• Contribute to the definition and implementation of the institutional strategy.
• Participate in the development of annual and multi-year objectives for medical departments.
• Develop indicators to evaluate the quality and performance of services.
• Ensure efficient use of human, material and financial resources.

Management and skills development

• Support department chief physicians and psychologists and the heads of units under your responsibility.
• Contribute to the forward planning of medical and psychological professions.
• Promote the attractiveness, development and sustainability of medical skills within the institution.

Research, teaching and partnerships

• Supervise the Institute of Training and Research in Mental Health (IFRSM).
• Support the development of clinical and translational research projects.
• Promote academic, scientific and institutional collaborations.
• Represent the CNP with health system partners and authorities.

Your profile

• FMH specialist physician in psychiatry and psychotherapy or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Additional training in management, leadership or governance of health organisations.
• Proven and successful experience in leading a medical service, department or health institution.
• Excellent knowledge of the Swiss health system and its challenges.
• Confirmed experience in strategic management, change management and leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong interest in quality of care, innovation, training and research.
• Unifying and inspiring leadership.
• Strategic vision and ability to anticipate sector developments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to create sustainable partnerships.
• Ability to reconcile medical requirements, quality of care and institutional performance.
• Political acumen and ease in institutional representation.
