About the job
Would you like to actively commit to animal welfare and ensure species-appropriate animal husbandry? As an animal welfare inspector, you play a central role in inspecting animal husbandry in the canton of Lucerne and ensure that legal requirements are met - from agricultural enterprises to pet keeping.
Your tasks
- With your expertise in animal behaviour and the needs of animals, you recognise grievances early and initiate the necessary measures to protect the animals.
- Your focus is on the inspection and investigation of the keeping of farm animals and pets.
- You conduct animal welfare inspections and investigations and ensure that digital data on animal welfare cases is carefully and up to date maintained. You accurately record inspections, complaints, legal hearings and orders.
- The handling of administrative procedures is also part of your varied range of tasks. You write reports, complaints and orders, thereby contributing to the consistent enforcement of animal welfare law.
- Furthermore, you support statements for public prosecutors, courts and lawyers and handle general correspondence within the framework of animal welfare procedures.
Your profile
- You have a degree in veterinary medicine or a related field as well as expertise in the area of farm and pet animals. Alternatively, you have training as an official animal welfare specialist assistant or official animal welfare expert.
- Through your practical experience in the care, keeping and supervision of pets and farm animals, you know the requirements for species-appropriate animal husbandry.
- Ideally, you have already gained professional experience in administration, enforcement or animal welfare.
- You quickly grasp complex matters, express them precisely and enjoy writing demanding texts and extensive documents.
- You approach challenges independently and solution-oriented, make appropriate decisions and at the same time appreciate exchange and collaboration in a competent and well-coordinated team.
