The Roads and Networks section of the Public Works and Environment Service oversees projects and interventions on the municipal public domain, roads, and networks. To strengthen its team, it is looking for a person capable of managing technical files and small civil engineering sites.

The City of Sion is advertising a position for

Civil Engineering Technician – Roads and Networks M/F Fixed-term Contract (6 months) – 100% activity rate

within the Public Works and Environment Service, Roads and Networks section.

Main missions

• examine private connection projects to wastewater and clean water networks, formulate the technical conditions of permits, coordinate stakeholders and supervise on-site work; monitor non-conformities and plans compliant with execution;
• process excavation permit requests, set intervention conditions, control securing and maintenance of access, then monitor the quality of backfilling, repairs and administrative closure;
• examine simple inquiry files concerning roads, accesses and networks; verify their technical compliance, draft opinions and forward complex or exceptional cases to the manager;
• prepare and oversee small civil engineering sites: descriptions, measurements, estimates, requests for offers and orders, coordination of stakeholders, quality controls, deadlines and costs, acceptance and follow-up of guarantees;
• support section managers in studies and sites: surveys, findings, simple plans, technical files and occasional controls; collaborate with services, contractors and companies and follow certain files in their absence.

Employment conditions

• hold a Federal VET Diploma (CFC) as a civil engineering draughtsperson, road builder or equivalent technical training. A higher technical diploma (ES) in the field is an asset.
• have practical experience in sanitation networks, road works or managing small sites;
• know VSS, VSA, SIA and SN 592 000 standards, be able to read and check technical plans and know procedures related to building permits and interventions on the public domain;
• master common IT tools; knowledge of a drawing software and a geographic information system is desirable;
• hold a category B driving licence;
• demonstrate autonomy, rigour, organisation and ease in the field, be able to manage several files, communicate and write clearly, enforce regulations firmly and diplomatically, and work as part of a team with a public service spirit.
