Job description
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva benefits from a rewarding multicultural dynamic to which it contributes through its influence within the mandates it has set itself: teaching, research and its partnership with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).The Department of Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine is seeking a:
Attached to the Dermatology Service, the holder will implement the scientific project ‘ Molecular mechanisms of skin ageing ’ funded by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva.
The main tasks will be as follows:
- Conduct fundamental research experiments related to epidermal biology;
- Technical expertise in cell biology (keratinocyte and fibroblast culture) and molecular biology (PCR, Western Blot);
- Use of human and murine skin samples (animal experimentation);
- Supervision of a laboratory technician attached to the project;
- Writing scientific articles, activity reports and funding applications;
- Presentation of results at international scientific congresses.
Title and required skills
- PhD in biology or biochemistry, with a strong focus on skin biology;
- Proven experience in fundamental research on the epidermis;
- Mandatory certification and expertise in animal experimentation;
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken); knowledge of French is an asset;
- Proficiency in standard computer tools and scientific data analysis software;
- Good theoretical knowledge of the biological mechanisms of skin ageing/dermatoporosis;
- Knowledge of clinical research is an additional advantage.
