Your Main Tasks
- Professional and comprehensive care of patients and their relatives on our gastroenterological and hepatological ward
- Supervision and teaching of assistant physicians in training for General Internal Medicine
Your Profile
- Completed training as a specialist in General Internal Medicine
- Previous senior physician experience in inpatient General Internal Medicine within Switzerland is an advantage
- Holder of ultrasound/POCUS certification or close to obtaining it
- German language skills at level C1 are required
- Doctorate in medicine (Dr. med.)
- Resilient, team-oriented and communicative personality with enthusiasm for interdisciplinary collaboration

The ward of the Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University Hospital Zurich usually cares for 30 inpatients. We provide consultative support for the care of our patients in the Intermediate Care and Intensive Care units. Two senior positions are allocated for this task. The management of the Inpatient Gastroenterology department is led by PD Dr. med. Sena Blümel. We hold category D training accreditation for the education of our assistant physicians in General Internal Medicine.
Our inpatient care covers the entire field of gastroenterology and hepatology. We care for patients with advanced liver diseases up to liver transplantation; with complex pancreato-biliary diseases; with upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding; with severe courses of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases and motility disorders; as well as patients for follow-up after complex endoscopic procedures. This results in close interdisciplinary collaboration with the departments of surgery, radiology, anaesthesia and intensive care medicine.
