Senior DevOps Engineer (m/f/d)

Role:
In this role, you take on the technical responsibility for DevOps and the stable, secure cloud operation of business-critical applications. You are responsible for the further development and automation of build, test, and deployment processes and ensure that modern CI/CD practices are consistently applied. With your senior profile, you evaluate and implement suitable cloud architectures, platforms, and tools and define binding standards and best practices. You analyse complex system landscapes, optimise performance, availability, and security, and coordinate the interaction between development, operations, and other stakeholders. Furthermore, you identify improvement potentials, initiate corresponding initiatives, and provide professional guidance to colleagues to ensure a high quality level in the DevOps and cloud environment.
Responsibilities:
- You design, build, and operate secure, scalable container and cloud infrastructures based on Docker, Kubernetes, and Azure.
- In this role, you accompany platform projects from setup and introduction to stable, high-performance operation and drive their continuous improvement.
- As the technical lead for DevOps and cloud operations, you influence architectural decisions, define standards for security, monitoring, and deployment, and further develop our platforms.
- You are responsible for the central GitLab CI/CD infrastructure, design pipeline blueprints, perform upgrades, and enable efficient onboarding of new projects.
- In this role, you establish and optimise infrastructure-as-code, deployment processes, and monitoring setups with a focus on automation, repeatability, and traceability.
- You work closely with customers and development teams, analyse requirements, design pragmatic solutions, share your know-how, and integrate AI tools into everyday engineering.
Qualifications:
- Completed studies in computer science or equivalent, relevant professional experience
- Solid practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes and interest in deepening your knowledge in Azure
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar platforms and understanding of building production-ready pipelines
- Confident handling of topics such as monitoring, logging, alerting, certificate management, and incident management in productive operation
- Familiar with security concepts such as compliance, IAM, zero trust, and micro-segmentation and motivated to apply these consistently
- Strong communication skills for clearly conveying technical matters in German and English within agile teams (Scrum or Kanban)
